Shout! The Legend of The Wild One is based on the life and times of Johnny O’Keefe, the undisputed King of Australian Rock and Roll.
Johnny O’Keefe wants to conquer the world. He never actually does, but that’s beside the point. His career gives him spectacular highs and tragic lows, from battles with drugs, alcohol, and mental illness, to a shocking car accident. But he never gives up the fight.
Johnny fights hard to establish Australian musical performers as forces in world music. In his footsteps come The Bee Gees, INXS, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Allen, AC/DC, The Little River Band and Kylie Minogue.
This musical charts the beginning of teenage culture in Australia; it charts the beginning of Australian rock. It tells the story of a young man setting out on the journey of his life with dynamism, verve and ambition.
Presented by Koorliny Arts Centre and Kwinana Industries Council.
Book by John-Michael Howson, David Mitchell and Melvyn Morrow.

“Wild One brings house down! An obvious crowd pleaser. The production attains poignancy and dramatic conflict. A nostalgia trip but also an exciting entertainment.” – SYDNEY MORNING HERALD
